Hawkfire's Story - Chapter 1The sun was setting, leaving golden and crimson and pink streaks across the darkening blue sky. Warm hues of orange light were cast over the city, reflected in the glass windows of skyscrapers. The park near the center of the city looked particularly beautiful, though out of place. Its green grass was scattered with leaves of all shades of brown, yellow and red, having spiraled down from the trees sometime during the day. Crouched within one’s branches was a cat, her dark specked fur blending perfectly. Hawkfire's Story - PrologueThe night was dark. Very, very dark. A cold breeze forced its way through the rundown building, chilling the five cats inside. One was an almost solid black tomcat; he was huge, with long white claws that were dug into the ground. The tip of his tail was white and his eyes were bright blue. Curled up on a pile of old newspapers beside him was a slim, long-legged she-cat with russet fur. She raised her head and blinked sleepy green eyes at the tom. She was curled around two tiny bundles, one black and one even smaller, tortoiseshell with a few flashes of white.
